Incomparable at Chichester Cathedral

July 28, 2018

There is not any Musicke of Instruments whatsoever, comparable to that which is made of the voyces of Men,, where the voyces are good, and the same well sorted and ordered- William Byrd, 16-17th century organist and composer.

That just about sums up the sound members of Thames Philharmonic Choir are making at Chichester Cathedral this weekend, 27-29 July. And we're singing William Byrd's Mass for Four Voices at the 11am service tomorrow, Sunday.  There's no English 17th-C composer comparable to William Byrd...

At other services from this evening 5.30pm - for we are taking the place of the cathedral's resident choir - we are singing Stanford's jaunty setting of the 23rd Psalm, and stirring arrangements by Dyson, Sumsion and Howells.
