I'Soprano Clare Ward
She graduated from her postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in June 2019 with Distinction. She holds a First-Class Honours degree from Durham University in French and Music, is a Samling Academy graduate and, as an Erasmus scholar, studied at the Conservatoire de Toulouse. When not performing, Claire is committed to musical education and outreach. She is currently a peripatetic singing tutor with Brent Music Service and performs as part of Opera Prelude’s outreach scheme.
Mezzo-Soprano Bernadette Johns
She is currently studying for an MA in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, having read Music at The Queen’s College, Oxford, graduating with First Class honours. She won the Song Prize in the RAM's Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks Award this year, and is also a member of the prestigious Academy Song Circle. She has taken on a number of operatic roles, including Sesto in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito and Vespetta in Albinoni’s Pimpinone.
Tenor Philippe Durrant
He is studying for a Masters of Performance at the Royal College of Music. He is an alumnus of Samling Academy and the Waterperry Opera Festival Young Artist Programme. Recent or forthcoming solo performances include Bach’s St John Passion (Evangelist), St Matthew Passion (Evangelist), Mass in B Minor, Handel's Messiah and Monteverdi's Vespers. Recent operatic engagements include Acis (Acis and Galatea), Don José (Carmen) and Bill (Hand of Bridge) with Waterpenny Opera Festival.
Baritone Hugo Herman-Wilson
He studied at the University of Cambridge and the Royal College of Music. He was an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera in 2019 and a Britten-Pears Young Artist for 2017, 2018 and 2019. He has collaborated on and premiered in a number of contemporary projects, including Last Thursday, an opera by Gareth Mattey and Lewis Coenen-Rowe and Free //Falling, an electroacoustic piece for solo voice by Matthew Lomas.
