John
Bate, Artistic Director
 |
We are particularly fortunate in having access to superb
choral training from our artistic director, John Bate,
whose professional reputation is well known in London
music circles. |
JOHN
BATE was a cathedral chorister and a Scholar and professor
of Trinity College of Music. He has directed a wide variety
of performing groups, including Thames Festival Orchestra,
and has given many concerts in London and elsewhere in the
UK. He
has chorus-mastered the Philharmonia Chorus, the Royal Choral
Society and the All-London 1977 Silver Jubilee Choir.
From
1978 to 2001 he was Director of Music Performance at Kingston
University, when Kingston music became famous throughout the
academic world, personally directing the orchestras and choirs
in many events and venues throughout the UK and in Germany
and China.
Besides choral music, his repertoire embraces opera and orchestral
works of many periods, and he is well known for his work with
both choirs and orchestras.
